Garment printing applies your design to the fabric surface with ink, transfer film or dye. It is the usual choice for T-shirts, event and promotional clothing, sportswear and large back designs, where embroidery would be heavy.

Garment printing in Dubai is handled with Mustang’s in-house printing and branding support, covering screen printing, heat transfer and sublimation. The right method depends on your design, the fabric and the quantity, and this page explains how to choose and what to prepare.

Printing methods compared

MethodBest forLimitsFabric suitability
Screen printingBold logos and text in a few solid colours, repeated across larger quantitiesA screen is prepared for each colour, so many colours or very small runs are less practical; fine gradients are difficultCotton and cotton-rich blends; other fabrics are assessed case by case
Heat transferDetailed or multi-colour logos, individual names and numbers, smaller runsSits on the fabric surface; sensitive to hot irons and harsh launderingMost cotton, polyester and blended fabrics; heat-sensitive fabrics need checking
SublimationAll-over, full-colour designs such as team kits and event jerseysNeeds polyester and a white or light base; not suitable for cotton or dark garmentsPolyester and polyester-rich performance fabrics

Choosing between them

Start with the fabric, because it rules methods in or out. Then look at the design: a one-colour slogan on cotton promotional T-shirts points to screen printing, while a full-colour kit with player names for sports uniforms points to sublimation. For polo shirts, shirts and jackets, embroidery is often the better option. The branding methods page compares all of them side by side.

How garment printing works

  1. Share artwork and garment details. Send the design, garment type, fabric, colours and quantities.
  2. Method recommendation. We recommend the print method that suits the design and fabric.
  3. Mock-up. You receive a free digital logo mock-up before production, showing print size and placement.
  4. Approval. You approve artwork, size and placement in writing. Where colour is critical, a printed sample can be reviewed first.
  5. Production and packing. Printing begins after approval, and garments are packed as agreed, including employee by employee where required.

Final colours may vary with fabric, ink and screen calibration. Ink type, transfer film and print size depend on the design and fabric. Final specification will be confirmed during quotation.

Artwork requirements

  • Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) with text converted to outlines.
  • A colour reference for each brand colour, taken from your brand guidelines.
  • Print size and placement for each garment: chest, back or sleeve.
  • The garment colours, since a light logo version may be needed on dark garments.
  • For photographs or complex images, a high-resolution file at the intended print size.
  • For names and numbers, a checked list by employee or player.

Caring for printed garments

Print life depends heavily on laundering. As general guidance, wash printed garments inside out at a moderate temperature, avoid bleach and harsh detergents, do not iron directly on the print, and dry away from strong direct sunlight where possible. Always follow the garment care label.

If uniforms go through an industrial or hotel laundry, mention it in your brief so the method is chosen with that in mind. More detail is in the fabric care guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which printing method is best for our logo?

It depends on the fabric, the number of colours and the quantity. Send the artwork and garment details and the recommended method is shown with your mock-up.

Can you print individual names and numbers?

Yes. Names and numbers are normally applied by heat transfer, or included in the design for sublimated kits. Supply a checked list with sizes.

Will the print match our brand colour?

Colours are matched to your reference as closely as the method and fabric allow. Final colours may vary with fabric, ink and screen calibration, so review a printed sample where the shade is critical.

Can printing and embroidery be used on the same garment?

Yes. A common combination is an embroidered chest logo with a printed back design. Both are shown on the mock-up before production.
