A uniform sample is the garment you approve before bulk production: physical proof of fit, fabric, colour, stitching and branding. Reviewing it carefully is the most effective quality control available to a buyer, because the approved sample becomes the reference for the bulk order.

For uniform samples in the UAE, the promise is specific: free uniform samples are available against a confirmed Local Purchase Order (LPO). Other sampling arrangements are discussed during quotation.

How uniform sampling works

  1. Agree the specification. Garment, fabric, colour and branding are set out in the quotation, with a free digital logo mock-up before production.
  2. Confirm the LPO. Free uniform samples are available against a confirmed Local Purchase Order.
  3. Sample preparation. The sample is prepared to the agreed specification, including branding.
  4. Evaluation. Your team wears, washes and inspects the sample.
  5. Approval or changes. You approve in writing, or list the changes required so the reference can be revised.
  6. Production reference. The approved sample becomes the production reference for the bulk order.

How to evaluate a sample: wear and wash test

  • Have someone in the actual role wear it for a full shift, including time outdoors and in strong air-conditioning.
  • Check movement: reaching, bending, sitting and lifting.
  • Check coverage and opacity under bright light, and sleeve and hem lengths.
  • Measure the garment, wash it several times as your staff or laundry will, and measure again.
  • Compare colour before and after washing, in daylight.
  • Inspect seams, buttons, zips and pocket corners after washing.
  • Check the logo for puckering, loose threads or lifting edges.
  • Record feedback in writing, with photographs, from the wearer and the approver.

Size sets for fit confirmation

A single sample confirms the design; it does not tell every employee which size to order. A size set, meaning the same garment in a run of sizes, lets staff try garments on and confirm their size before production. Whether a size set is appropriate, and how it is arranged, is discussed during quotation.

In the UAE, onsite measurement is the alternative for qualifying company uniform orders.
