FAQ: Free Onsite Uniform Measurement in the UAE

Collecting uniform sizes from a spreadsheet of self-declared S, M and L is where most fit problems begin. Onsite measurement replaces the guesswork: each employee is measured individually at the workplace and the sizes are recorded by name.
Mustang offers free onsite individual uniform measurement in the UAE for qualifying company uniform orders. This FAQ explains who the service is for, what happens on the day and what HR needs to have ready so the visit runs smoothly.

Who the service is for
Is onsite measurement really free?
Yes. Onsite individual measurement is free for qualifying company uniform orders in the UAE. It is part of the order process, not a separately charged service.
Which orders qualify?
The service is for companies and organisations ordering staff uniforms, with the measurement taking place at a workplace in the UAE. Eligibility is confirmed during quotation, once we know the garments, the roles involved and where your teams are based.
Share the scope of the order through Request a Quote first. The onsite measurement service page explains how the visit fits into the wider order.
What happens on measurement day
What does the measurement team actually do?
Our team visits your workplace and measures each employee individually, recording sizes by name against your staff list. Department, branch and the garments each person will receive are captured at the same time, so the record can drive both production and packing.
Which measurements are taken depends on the garment. A tailored blazer or fitted tunic needs more than a polo shirt or coverall. Final specification will be confirmed during quotation.
Will the visit disrupt operations?
It should not, if staff are scheduled in small groups by department or shift instead of all at once. How much time the visit needs depends on headcount, the number of garment types per person and your shift pattern, and it is planned with you beforehand.
Hotels, clinics, kitchens and sites running rotating shifts usually need the schedule to follow the roster, so that night-shift and off-day staff are not missed.
How are privacy and modesty handled?
A private room keeps the process comfortable for everyone, and staff should wear light, everyday clothing so that measurements are accurate. If your workforce has specific modesty or privacy requirements, raise them when booking so the visit can be planned around them.
Fit preference is worth discussing too. Some roles and some wearers need a looser cut or longer lengths, and it is easier to record this at measurement than to correct it afterwards. Our guide to inclusive and diverse-fit uniform sizing covers the options.
What should HR prepare? Measurement-day preparation checklist
Most delays on the day come from missing information, not from the measuring itself. This checklist shows what to have ready, who normally owns it and why it matters.
| Item | Owner | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Staff list with full names, employee IDs and job titles | HR | Sizes are recorded by name and later used for employee-level packing |
| Department, branch and location for each person | HR | Lets the order be packed and delivered by department or branch |
| Garment list per role, with quantities per person | Procurement | Tells the team which measurements to take for each employee |
| A private, well-lit room near the work area | Admin or facilities | Protects privacy and keeps staff away from their posts for less time |
| Shift-based schedule in small groups | Department supervisors | Avoids queues and covers every shift, including nights |
| Notice to staff about the date and what to wear | HR | Bulky clothing makes accurate measurement harder |
| List of absentees and expected new joiners | HR | Allows a follow-up plan to be agreed on the day |
| One named site contact | HR or operations | Gives the team a single person to resolve questions with |
Absent staff, new joiners and multiple branches
What about staff who are absent or on leave?
Absences are normal, especially where annual leave is taken in long blocks. Mark absent staff on the list and agree how their sizes will be collected: a follow-up arrangement, or sizing against a chart using the size and fit guide.
Avoid letting a colleague estimate someone else’s size. An estimated size is the most common cause of a garment that does not fit.
How are new joiners measured after the main visit?
New joiners are added to the same record as the original team. How they are sized depends on how many people are joining and where; this is agreed as part of your programme. Our article on how to measure for a uniform sizing chart helps HR take reliable measurements for individual starters.
Can you measure staff across several branches?
Multi-branch and multi-emirate teams within the UAE can be covered, with the visit plan for each site agreed during quotation. All sites feed one consolidated record, so the same role is measured and sized the same way everywhere.
Records and the fit-correction guarantee
How are the measurements stored and reused?
Mustang keeps stored records of approved sizing, fabric, colour, logo position and branding for repeat orders. When a replacement or replenishment order is placed, the existing sizes are the starting point, so staff are not measured from scratch every time.
Sizes do change, so ask staff to flag any change before a reorder. The measurement policy sets out the terms of the service.
What does the fit-correction guarantee cover?
The fit-correction guarantee applies to garments measured by Mustang. If a garment made from our measurements does not fit as intended, it is corrected.
It does not cover body-size changes after measurement, and it does not extend to sizes a client supplies from its own list. That distinction is the main reason to have every wearer measured in person where possible.
Mustang recommendation: book measurement only after the garment list is final. Measuring for a shirt and trouser, then adding a blazer later, means measuring the same people twice. Fix the garments per role first, then schedule the visit around your roster.
- Confirm the garment list for every role.
- Check the staff list for spelling, departments and branch codes.
- Choose the room and the measurement dates.
- Build a shift-by-shift schedule with supervisors.
- Tell staff when to attend and what to wear.
- List absentees and agree how they will be sized.
Book your measurement visit
If your quotation is already in progress, use Book Onsite Measurement to propose dates and sites. If you are at the start, send your requirements through Request a Quote and tell us that you would like staff measured on site. Uniform ranges for office teams are listed under corporate uniforms.
More frequently asked questions
Is the service available to private individuals or outside the UAE?
No. Onsite measurement is offered for company uniform orders in the UAE, not for individual or personal tailoring. For teams in other GCC countries, sizes are collected by other methods agreed for the project; see GCC uniform supply.
Can we send our own size list instead?
Yes, you can supply sizes yourself. Bear in mind that the fit-correction guarantee applies only to garments measured by Mustang.
