FAQ: Warranties and Guarantees on Uniforms

Uniform Suppliers hero: three staff examine navy uniforms at a table with fabric swatches; headline reads 'Uniform Warranties' and 'What buyers should check'.

Warranty and guarantee questions come up often once a uniform order moves from quotation to production, and the honest answer is that coverage is specific rather than blanket — a small number of clearly defined guarantees apply to specific parts of the process, rather than one broad warranty covering every garment and every scenario. This FAQ sets out exactly what is covered, what it means in practice, and where to go for the full published terms.

Everything below reflects our current published guarantees. Where a question falls outside these, the honest answer is that it should be discussed and confirmed directly during quotation rather than assumed.

What this guide covers

The fit-correction guarantee

Garments measured by our team through our onsite individual measurement service are supported by a fit-correction guarantee. If a garment does not fit as measured, this is corrected following the approved garment style and specification, provided the issue is reported within the stated inspection period after delivery.

This guarantee applies specifically to garments measured through our approved onsite measurement process — it is not a general promise that any uniform, sized by any method, will always fit perfectly, and it does not cover fit changes caused by an employee’s body size changing after the original measurement was taken.

The engraved-badge warranty

Eligible engraved badges include a one-year no-fading warranty, covering the badge under normal use and care conditions from the date of delivery. This warranty is specific to engraved badges produced using our approved engraving methods — it does not extend to printed badges, ID cards, lanyards or other identification items, which are separate products with their own expected service life.

Damage caused by misuse, abrasion, chemical exposure, unauthorised cleaning methods or physical breakage may fall outside this warranty. For the full technical detail on engraved badge durability and what affects badge lifespan generally, see our dedicated guide to engraved badges, which this FAQ does not repeat.

What these guarantees do not cover

It is worth being clear about scope: these two guarantees — fit-correction and the engraved-badge no-fading warranty — are the specific, published guarantees currently in place. They do not amount to a general product warranty covering every garment type, every branding method, or every possible fault, and no such blanket warranty should be assumed.

Where a question involves a garment type, branding method or scenario not covered by either of these two guarantees, the right approach is to raise it directly during quotation so it can be addressed specifically for your order, rather than assuming a general warranty applies by default.

How quality is managed outside these two guarantees

Outside the two specific guarantees above, quality is managed through the ordinary process rather than a formal warranty claim: a free sample is available against a confirmed LPO so fabric, fit, colour and branding can be checked and approved before full production begins, and a free digital logo mock-up lets you confirm branding placement in advance. Catching a specification issue at the sample stage, before bulk production, is generally the most effective way to avoid a problem reaching a full delivered order in the first place.

Stored repeat-order specification records also help here — because an approved specification is kept on file, a reorder should consistently match what was originally approved, which reduces the chance of a quality or specification drift issue appearing on a later order.

If an issue is reported outside the stated window

Both guarantees are tied to a specific reporting window — the stated inspection period for fit-correction, and the one-year period for the engraved-badge warranty — because a defined window is what makes a guarantee a genuinely meaningful, checkable commitment rather than an open-ended promise. Reporting an issue promptly, as soon as it is noticed, is always the most reliable way to have it assessed against the guarantee as published.

An issue reported after the relevant window has closed falls outside the formal guarantee, and any outcome in that situation would need to be discussed and agreed on its own terms rather than assumed in advance — this FAQ cannot promise a specific result for a scenario outside the published guarantee, since doing so would misrepresent what the guarantee actually covers.

How to report a fit or badge issue

For a fit-correction request, report the issue with your order details as soon as possible after delivery and within the stated inspection period, referencing the original onsite measurement session if applicable. For an engraved-badge fading concern within the one-year warranty period, report it with the badge and order details so it can be assessed against the warranty’s normal use and care conditions.

In both cases, having your original order reference, delivery date and a description of the specific issue ready when you make contact helps the request move faster than a general enquiry without those details.

Why guarantees are scoped this specifically

It can be tempting to want a single, simple answer — “yes, everything is guaranteed” — but a vague, all-encompassing promise is generally less useful to a buyer than a small number of clearly defined guarantees with known conditions. A specific guarantee tells you exactly what happens in a defined situation; a vague blanket promise tends to leave the actual outcome, in any particular real situation, unclear until a problem actually arises.

This is also why the fit-correction guarantee is tied specifically to garments measured through our own onsite measurement process, rather than any garment regardless of how it was sized. The guarantee reflects confidence in a measurement process we control directly — extending the same guarantee to sizing done through a different method, which we cannot verify, would not be a meaningful promise.

Quick-reference guarantee summary

GuaranteeApplies toDoes not apply to
Fit-correction guaranteeGarments measured through our onsite measurement service, reported within the stated inspection periodGarments sized by another method; body-size changes after measurement
Engraved-badge no-fading warrantyEligible engraved badges, one year from delivery, normal use and carePrinted badges, ID cards, lanyards; misuse, abrasion, chemical exposure, unauthorised cleaning, physical breakage

Mustang recommendation: keep your order reference, delivery date and onsite measurement session details on file — having them ready when you report a fit or badge concern is what lets a request be assessed quickly against the guarantee’s published conditions.

A worked example

Consider a company that books onsite measurement for 40 staff, orders shirts and requests engraved name badges for a supervisor tier within the same order. If a handful of shirts do not fit as measured once delivered, this falls under the fit-correction guarantee, provided it is reported within the inspection period — the garment is corrected against the original approved specification. If, eighteen months later, an engraved badge from that same order shows visible fading under normal daily wear, that badge would fall outside the one-year warranty window, since the warranty period is measured from the original delivery date rather than resetting on each inspection or query.

This example is illustrative only — every actual case is assessed against the order’s own details and the current published terms, not against a general assumption drawn from a similar-sounding scenario.

Where the full terms are published

The complete, current terms for both guarantees — including the exact inspection period, eligibility conditions and exclusions — are published on our warranty terms page. This FAQ summarises the guarantees in plain language; the warranty terms page is the definitive reference if a detail here and the published terms ever appear to differ.

Frequently asked questions

Do all uniforms come with a warranty?

Coverage is specific rather than universal. The fit-correction guarantee applies to garments measured through our onsite measurement service, and the one-year no-fading warranty applies to eligible engraved badges. Other scenarios should be confirmed directly during quotation.

Does the fit-correction guarantee cover weight or body changes after measurement?

No. It covers a fit issue relative to the measurements taken, not fit changes caused by an employee’s body size changing after the original measurement.

Does the engraved-badge warranty cover printed badges or lanyards?

No, it applies specifically to eligible engraved badges produced using approved engraving methods. Printed badges, ID cards and lanyards are separate products with their own expected service life.

What is excluded from the engraved-badge warranty?

Damage from misuse, abrasion, chemical exposure, unauthorised cleaning or physical breakage may fall outside the warranty. Full exclusions are published on the warranty terms page.

How do we report a warranty issue?

Contact us with your order details, delivery date and a description of the issue as soon as possible — within the stated inspection period for a fit-correction request, or within the one-year period for an engraved-badge fading concern.

Is there a general warranty for all garment defects?

Not a blanket one. Two specific guarantees are currently published — fit-correction and the engraved-badge warranty. Catching a specification issue at the sample stage, before bulk production, is the most reliable way to avoid a broader quality concern.

Where can we see the exact warranty terms and conditions?

The full, current terms are published on our warranty terms page, which is the definitive reference for eligibility conditions, inspection periods and exclusions.

Does the one-year badge warranty start from order date or delivery date?

From the delivery date. If a fading concern is identified later, it is assessed against the one-year period measured from when the badges were delivered, not from when the order was originally placed.

If we place a large order with several garment types, does one guarantee cover the whole order?

No — each guarantee applies to its own specific scope within the order. Shirts measured onsite fall under the fit-correction guarantee; engraved badges within the same order fall under the separate badge warranty. Each is assessed against its own conditions rather than the order as a single unit.
